ABOUT US
Ningo Foundation Ltd is a social venture that was birthed from the experience I went through as a parent and as a headteacher of girls’ school of 1980 students, ranging from ages 12 - 21, for 10 years.

Ningo? is an Acholi question meaning “What is it?” A question that majority of parents, teacher’s students and all other stakeholders ask themselves whenever girls become hysterical. Hysteria or anxiety conversion disorders are common among young girls between 12-20 years.

What bothers the concerned people is that whenever the affected girls undergo medical check-ups, no underlying medical reasons are got. The girls on the other hand display many symptoms like fainting, headaches, paralysis, weak limbs, temporally blindness etc.

Prevalent data on addressed internalised disorders in Uganda reveal high rates of depression and anxiety (Kinyanda et al, 2013).
60% of Uganda population is under 18 years, 10% - 20% of children and adolescents experience mental health problems (Kieliu et al).

Conversion disorders are conditions in which a person experiences physical and sensory problems with no underlying neurologic pathology hence leading to more anxieties.
